Getting into that group…..
Identify who is leading the conversation. Approach so that they see you coming, smile and move in deliberately. Say something like, “Do you mind if I join you – please don’t let me interrupt”. However, be prepared to contribute if the conversation dries up on your arrival – weather, journey, venue, speakers etc. Don’t feel you have to give your name or card at this stage unless you are in Asia where introductions with cards are the norm.
