The very thought of calling… “It’s been a long time since we spoke.” “I don’t know what to say.” “I don’t want to bother them.” “I don’t want to appear pushy.” All are common excuses that preparation can overcome. Reasons for calling may be an invitation to an event, a client survey, asking to ‘pick their brains’ on something (flattery!) Then rehearse your opening lines and don’t launch into a ‘call centre script’. Get them talking as soon as possible.
